After years of study, analysis, books, blog conversation, web commentary, debate and millions of resume tips on how best to reenter the full time workforce -- it is clear to many that meaningful change will ONLY come through government sponsored employer incentive programs.
On-ramps can ONLY be built by employers. Women faced with this issue know this.
Let’s stop beating around the mulberry bush - and take exacting action to see that tax policy initiatives are crafted by our government.
Much time has been wasted.
Face it, employers are conditioned to hire the most exact matched to fill limited jobs.
Returning moms have a mark against their candidacy, and are more often not hired due to the fact that their experience outside the home - is not current. Who is not tired of hearing: "so what have you been doing for x years?"
There is NO INCENTIVE for corporate America to overcome years of myopic hiring practices.
Why are moms left to apologize for taking seriously the responsibility of motherhood? Is it not a badge of honor? Taking time off from ones hard fought career, reflects confidence and strength - not weakness.
